RISEHOLME COLLEGE MARKS 75 YEARS OF GROWING FUTURES
This year marks a remarkable milestone for Riseholme College as it celebrates 75 years of delivering specialist agricultural education to Lincolnshire and beyond. Since its beginnings in 1949 as the Riseholme Farm Institute, the college has evolved into a modern centre of excellence, offering a broad range of courses that combine tradition with innovation.
Riseholme’s general education offer now spans far beyond its agricultural heritage. Alongside renowned land-based programmes in agriculture, engineering, animal management and equine studies, the college provides pathways in business, sport, and health and social care — ensuring that every learner can find a route to success. From school leavers and apprentices to adult learners and degree-level students, Riseholme offers flexible, career-focused qualifications designed around real industry needs.
What really sets Riseholme apart is its hands-on approach to learning. Students gain practical experience using state-of-the-art facilities — from a working farm and the equine centre to advanced workshops and fitness suites — ensuring they leave not only qualified, but career-ready. Courses are developed in partnership with employers, keeping skills training relevant and future-focused.
There are also a wide range of apprenticeships, giving learners the opportunity to earn while they learn. Working in partnership with local and national employers, the college offers apprenticeships across key sectors. These programmes combine classroom learning with real workplace experience, helping apprentices develop the practical skills, confidence, and qualifications needed for successful, long-term careers. The college works closely with the Skills Advisory Group to ensure its apprenticeship programmes and wider curriculum reflect the latest industry needs and regional workforce priorities. The college is also actively seeking members to join the Skills and Employment Advisory Group to play a key role in the future direction of the college, and anyone interested should contact Rachel.wright@bishopburton.ac.uk.
The 75th anniversary celebrations reflect the college’s enduring impact on education and community. The launch of a new Alumni Association reconnects generations of students, celebrating their shared legacy and achievements.
Complementing its academic provision, Riseholme also delivers a strong commercial offer, providing professional training, facility hire, and business partnerships that connect education with enterprise. From bespoke skills development for local industries to conferences and events, these initiatives strengthen community links and support regional growth.
Riseholme College also offers Skills Bootcamps that provide hands-on experience, build new abilities, and open doors to land-based and agricultural careers. Part of the UK Government’s Skills for Life agenda and supported by Lincolnshire County Council, these short, practical courses help individuals upskill or prepare for new roles.
Upcoming programmes include Land-Based Engineering, focusing on modern machinery, and Agriculture Management, developing leadership and sustainability skills. Running over two weeks between October 2025 and February 2026, the Bootcamps are free for individual learners and available face-to-face or through blended learning. Employers contribute just 10% for SMEs or 30% for larger organisations. Learners must live and work in Lincolnshire or Rutland. For more information visit: Skills Bootcamp | Riseholme College
