Team Lincolnshire member Make An Entrance has been on a visit to DOMOTEX in Germany.

It’s been a busy and exciting start to 2020 for Team Lincolnshire member Make An Entrance. The team kicked off the New Year with a visit to Hannover in Germany for DOMOTEX – the flooring industry’s leading international trade fair which brings together exhibitors and visitors from across the world.

Co-directors Sam and Stuart Burlton attend the exhibition each year to gain an insight into all the latest industry trends, meet suppliers and network with businesses from around the world.

DOMOTEX is a trade fair run by Deutsche Messe – a leading global producer of capital goods trade fairs. The DOMOTEX exhibition is an annual event which takes place in January at the Deutsche Messe AG exhibition and trade centre in Hannover.

Exhibitors and visitors from all over the world attend the three-day event. They visit to find out about the latest trends, innovative ideas and developments in the flooring industry. The event also offers businesses the opportunity to network with smaller firms or larger enterprises as well as suppliers.

On average, the event welcomes around 1,400 exhibitors from over 60 nations; over two-thirds of visitors come from outside Germany and more than half of them come from outside the EU.

During the exhibition, Hannover serves as the international centre for the flooring sector. It offers the ideal opportunity for businesses like ours to broaden their knowledge and connections within the industry.

Make An Entrance currently sources raw materials for its products from companies across Europe and as far away as India and Sri Lanka. The visit to Germany was to meet a range of potential new suppliers and Sam and Stuart were very excited by some of the products which they are hoping to add to their range throughout the year.

The keynote theme of this year’s expo was ATMYSPHERE. It’s based on the concept of using flooring to create a sense of wellbeing with a focus on encouraging green living.

For many people a doormat is only for covering the floor and wiping your feet on, but to Make An Entrance a doormat has the potential to add style and character to any home.

Many of the company's doormats are already made from eco-friendly coir fibre.  This is produced using the fibrous husk that surrounds coconuts – a completely biodegradable material – which means that it can be put in the compost at the end of its life.

As a result of their visit, Sam and Stuart are looking forward to implementing what they’ve learnt at DOMOTEX to offer even more eco-friendly products very soon.
