Lincoln City Foundation has revealed the 13.1-mile city centre route for the Lincoln City Half Marathon which is due to take place on Sunday 20th September 2020.

Lincoln City Foundation's ambitious project to reach new audiences is part of its mission to create opportunities that inspire and empower individuals and communities to develop and improve their physical, social and mental wellbeing.

The outbreak of COVID-19 and restrictions on mass gatherings have resulted in many similar events being cancelled or postponed up and down the country.

The Lincoln City Half Marathon team is working with the local authorities, emergency services and partners to put in place safety measures for runners and spectators that will meet Government guidelines by September.

Charlotte Hornsby, Operations Manager at Lincoln City Foundation, said: “We are so pleased to be able to share the route with everyone who has registered so far, those considering entering and those who will be cheering the runners through their local community.

“As a team we really wanted to give participants a true Lincoln experience and with the support of our partners I think we have been able to offer something that showcases our eclectic city.

"There is clear evidence from cities around the UK linking sports events like this to local economic benefit, and our aim is for this event to grow year on year to support charities, communities and businesses in Lincolnshire.

“Consultation during this time has been extremely challenging but we remain optimistic that we can run this event in September.”

Jono Frary, Race Director at Curly’s Athletes, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for us to support Lincoln City Foundation, a local charity, and the work they do across Lincolnshire. We want to assure runners and spectators this is going to be a safe, fun and unique event that’s going to be around for many years to come.

“The route has a great mix of surroundings in and around a very special city. We’ve spent a lot of time designing something that will entertain people, show off the city and engage the community.”
