The University Centre will encourage wider partnership contribution and participation from the private providers, employers as well as the public sector

The project will create a new University Technology and Innovation Centre to serve South Lincolnshire. It will provide an anchor and access for South Lincolnshire higher levels skills development and a link to a University for local businesses.

The new 863m² (9,288ft²) University Technology and Innovation Centre within Grantham Town Centre will deliver higher and degree level apprenticeships, diplomas and short courses whilst also being a local contact point for businesses. It will provide a space for local businesses to network, share ideas and knowledge, as well as, work in a professional business environment tailored to meet business needs. The location above a new cinema and retail complex enables excellent access and promotion of the new offer.

Overall the wider scheme will provide:

  • A learning space where students participating in degree apprenticeships and short courses could come to study as part of their programme
  • An accelerator space for new businesses either linked to those studying or others wishing to create enterprises in the digital/innovative engineering sector
  • A resource for other SMEs to access innovation and ideas in support of their business
  • A social enterprise in its own right, providing meeting spaces, a community coffee shop
