Gateway created to the Food Enterprise Zone; Opening up development land for investment; Enabling housing provision

This is a programme of investment that will enable large scale economic growth for the rural area of Holbeach.  The scheme, now completed, has opened up business growth opportunities in the vicinity and improves infrastructure that is heavily relied upon by the agri-food sector and its associated supply chain of businesses located in South Holland.

Growth Deal funding has enabled construction of a new four-arm roundabout at the junction of the A17 and A151, providing access to development land located to the east and west of the A151.

The site to the west of the A151 will enable the development of circa 10 hectares (25 acres) of employment land suitable for high-quality commercial space. Land to the east of the A151 benefits from outline planning consent for circa 650 new dwellings.

The improvement of infrastructure and provision of employment land  will provide important employment opportunities for the food manufacturing sector and adjacent academic institutions that will open possibilities for research, training and knowledge transfer within an area that has now been designated as a Food Enterprise Zone. The University of Lincoln has acquired the first plot within the proposed FEZ and work is underway on the construction of a new Agri-Food Centre of Excellence .

A second tranche of Growth Deal funding has been provided towards the cost of providing site enabling infrastructure including service roads and utilities to Phase one of the FEZ . To see the Peppermint Park FEZ Master Plan please click here
