Strengthening Gainsborough's reputation as an attractive and vibrant place to live and work - recognising and supporting the need for a new and diverse housing offer

West Lindsey District Council (WLDC) has secured £1.6million of Growth Deal grant to fund a programme of projects, including:

  • Acquisition of a key regeneration site to create non-food retail use, a cinema complex, public realm and car parking facilities
  • Commissioning of a Gainsborough Transport Model identifying potential solutions to alleviate congestion and support the future developments of the town
  • Support for the roll out of a 'Living over the Shops' initiative which involves converting vacant space above retail units in the town centre for residential use

This initial programme of projects will drive in growth of the visitor economy, as well as promoting Greater Lincolnshire as a place for sustainable growth, strengthening Gainsborough's reputation as an attractive and vibrant place to live and work, recognising and supporting the need for a new and diverse housing offer.

It is expected that this phase of works will deliver a number of outputs, including creating 115 jobs, 12 new housing units, and 2,421sqm of refurbished commercial floorspace.
