Hayley Toyne is our dedicated visitor economy expert.

Meet Hayley.

“I’ve spent fifteen years working as a self-employed consultant in the Lincolnshire food and tourism industries after previously working in brand management roles for several multinational companies.

“With a background in marketing and communications, my particular interest is in product launch and brand management. One of my most recent contracted projects included working on a new bookable product with Lincolnshire tourism businesses and the travel trade and has resulted in brand new tour packages coming to the market for the county. Previous projects for me also included the management of local food provenance initiatives and working with Lincolnshire County Council on the relaunch of Lincoln Castle following its multimillion pound restoration in 2015.

"I’ve worked with the county council, all the district councils, Visit Lincoln, and many individual businesses over the years throughout my freelance career – and it’s a pleasure to now be a part of the Business Lincolnshire team as the Visitor Economy Advisor. The visitor economy landscape in Lincolnshire, it’s stakeholders, product, assets and challenges all combine to present a very diverse sector in the county. Being able to support businesses now more than ever as we emerge from the pandemic years is a very rewarding and important role that I relish.

"Each week is different, and my work takes me all over the county engaging with businesses. Recently I spent some time with a few accommodation providers in Skegness – and was able to help them with a variety of support including signposting to solutions to implement online booking platforms, guidance on guest terms and conditions, and advice on social media marketing.  It’s a two-way street too so it’s always great to hear and learn from businesses as they update on their success stories. From the installation of a new heating system that is centrally controlled on a room-by-room basis, to simply a new piece of targeted literature that has resulted in a boost in out of season bookings – hearing of these achievements and development projects firsthand is invaluable.

"Head to the #TourismTalk section to find out about my new monthly drop-in sessions with the first one taking place online on 19th April. I hope to meet you soon!”
