A number of projects part-funded by the LEP through the Government’s Growth Deal are making good progress.

The £30m Lincoln Transport Hub project is now nearing completion. The 1,000-space multi-storey car park opened to the public in November and the impressive modern bus station is now at an advanced stage of construction: it will become operational in January 2018 complete with integral café facilities.

The Greater Lincolnshire LEP in partnership with the Department for Transport has contributed £13m of Growth Deal funding towards the scheme, securing a new gateway into the city, creating jobs and providing an enhanced relationship between the surrounding communities, the railway station and town centre retail areas.

The wider scheme will enable new office space provision, a hotel development and a much improved public realm in the heart of the city.

In Holbeach the Peppermint Junction scheme was officially opened on 8th December. This strategic infrastructure scheme is the first step in providing a new gateway to the South Lincolnshire Food Enterprise Zone (FEZ), focused on growing and supporting our agrifood sector.

The LEP contributed £2.1m of Growth Deal funding to this catalytic project and a further £3m has been provisionally allocated by the LEP towards crucial infrastructure investment within the FEZ site over the next couple of years.

Tremendous progress has been made on the £5m-plus Go Skegness project. This is a wide-ranging project that seeks to benefit both visitors and residents by creating a more efficient highways and public transport network, at the same time as encouraging healthy lifestyles through walking and cycling.

On the A52 Roman Bank it has already created 640 metres of brand new bus lane, creating 1,232 of continuous dedicated bus lane linking Butlins with Winthorpe and 3,200 metres of improved footways/cycleways and upgrading seven bus stops.

At Gibraltar Point there have been improvements to width and surfacing of 800 metres of segregated footway/cycleway, and 1,000m of off-road footway/cycleway and the creation of 400 metres of new fencing. Key town centre locations such as Lumley Road have also benefited from strategic investment. The LEP is contributing £4m to this extremely important transport related scheme, supporting the visitor economy and encouraging sustainable travel.
