The Energy Council has been created to promote energy transformation in Lincolnshire.

The LEP's Energy Council has now been created to promote energy transformation in Greater Lincolnshire. Members of the council are as follows:

•    Duncan Botting, MD of Global Smart Transformations
•    Emma Bridge, Chief Executive of Community Energy England
•    Jacqui Bunce, Programme Director of Lincolnshire STP NHS
•    Arnie Craven, External Affairs Director at Cadent Gas
•    Marie Harley, CEO of Blue Castle
•    John Henry Looney of Sustainable Direction
•    Juergen Schpaer of FCC Environment
•    Lea James from the Siemens Smart Infrastructure Team
•    Cllr Barry Dobson from Lincolnshire County Council and South Kesteven District Council
•    Simon Green, Deputy Chief Executive of North Lincolnshire Council
•    Martin Haworth, Director of Singleton Birch
•    Mark Hutchison, Distribution Director at Western Power

The role of the council will be to implement the recommendations outlined in the LEP’s Energy Strategy for Greater Lincolnshire which was launched at the LEP Conference in July.

The strategy was the result of extensive consultation and research by the LEP and its local authority partners and will support the creation of a sustainable system of energy which meets Greater Lincolnshire’s need for energy now and in the future.

The four ambitions expressed in the strategy are:

•    Secure low-cost, low-carbon energy across Greater Lincolnshire
•    Commercial and residential development in capacity-constrained areas
•    A sustainable transport system
•    A strengthened local energy industry within Greater Lincolnshire

“We’re working towards becoming a net zero carbon region by 2050,“ said Andrew Brooks, Regeneration Manager at Lincolnshire County Council, who is leading on the green agenda for the Greater Lincolnshire LEP.

“We aim to achieve this by becoming a test bed for the development of new energy models to unlock housing and employment growth and linking this with transportation, digitalisation and data communications while also addressing local capacity constraints.”

The Energy Council will meet regularly throughout the year. You can keep up to date with developments by following Andrew’s blog posts on the LEP website.
