This Friday (28th September), experts from the world of business, Government and academia will gather at the Lincolnshire Showground to consider how the area’s economy can achieve long-term growth and prosperity.

The aim of the conference is to bring together key stakeholders from across the East Midlands to discuss and analyse the challenges businesses face in Greater Lincolnshire.

From the University of Lincoln to the CBI, and from the Department of Transport to the care sector, the experts have been drawn from a wide range of industries. The event is expected to draw in almost 500 people, with over 400 delegates already registered.

Sir John Peace, Chair of the Midlands Engine, is set to give a keynote speech about the work his partnership is undertaking to increase growth in the Midlands and what it means for Greater Lincolnshire.

The conference will also feature four live panel debates. Each panel will be chaired by Ursula Lidbetter MBE, Chair of the LEP, and will be made up of four leading industry experts.

The topics up for discussion this year are: Robotics and Automation; Digitalisation; Skills; Energy and Water.

As well as the four panel debates, delegates will have the opportunity to book a place on a round-table discussion with one of four experts including:

  • Dr Megan Ronayne, EEF – the future of UK manufacturing, competitiveness, skills, apprenticeships
  • Professor Simon Pearson, Lincoln Institute of Agri-Food Technology – agrifood technology, robotics and automated vehicles
  • Richard Blackmore, CBI – Government strategy, Brexit planning and preparation
