Team Lincolnshire members were recently given an overview of one of Greater Lincolnshire's most significant infrastructure projects in recent history - the Lincoln Eastern Bypass.

Adam Round, Principal Engineer at Lincolnshire County Council, shared a fascinating insight into what it takes to create and deliver such a significant highways scheme.

As well as the enormous scale of the logistics of the project (the amount of earth and excavation, navigating not one but four major waterways, the small matter of a railway line, not to mention bats!), one of the most interesting aspects was the archaeology that was revealed by the work.

Did you know that the work on the Lincoln Eastern Bypass resulted in the largest single archaeological project ever carried out in Lincolnshire? It revealed major discoveries of national and international importance, over 12,000 years of Witham Valley human history, 250,000 artefacts and an incredible Bronze Age oak log-boat - a very rare discovery.

We were all delighted to hear that despite the many challenges weather and Covid has brought, the project is still on schedule to be open by winter 2020.

Team Lincolnshire would like to congratulate Adam and all involved in delivering such an incredible project!
