This month Team Lincolnshire HQ caught up with one of the longest standing members of Team Lincolnshire – Phil Scrafton MD at Globe Consultants.

Globe has played an integral part in helping Team Lincolnshire grow into the flourishing ambassador programme it is today. And when it comes to collaboration – you would be hard pushed to find anyone more attuned to this than Globe. As our interview proved!

On the day of our catch up, Phil counted a staggering 24 Team Lincolnshire members who Globe is currently working with! Testament to how companies can really make the ambassador programme work to their advantage.

Phil very much believes that when it comes to collaboration we do this better than anywhere! One of the reasons we are so good at this is due to the landscape of the Lincolnshire business community.  It is not dominated by lots of major multinational companies, so SME's can easily work alongside larger businesses. And Globe is proof of the pudding!  Phil listed some of the Team Lincolnshire members he is currently working with.

One of Globe’s most established partnerships are with Delta Simons, who have always been their 'go to' geo-environmentalists. The projects Delta and Globe have worked on together are too long to list, but it is safe to say this is one Team Lincolnshire relationship which has flourished over the years. Delta and Globe have worked on some incredible projects, and are currently working together on one of Lincolnshire's most integral schemes – the South Lincolnshire Food Enterprise Zone (FEZ).

Lincolnshire County Council (LCC) is another long standing client. As well as playing a significant role in delivering the Cluster Hub building at the south Lincolnshire FEZ, alongside Core Architects, Phil is also working with a number of LCC departments; providing expertise and resources that are not available internally.

Delivering residential projects is another area of their work. Globe is working with Longhurst Group bringing forward housing schemes, including much needed affordable housing.

They are collaborating with architects Polkey Collins on an LCC project related to instilling vibrancy and recovery within Lincolnshire towns. Looking at schemes to 'repurpose' nine Lincolnshire towns that didn't benefit from the recent Town Fund Deals. Another LCC scheme Globe and fellow members WSP are bringing forward is the Horncastle Business Park.

Over the years Willmott Dixon and Globe have collaborated on many prominent developments in the county such as the Lincoln Transport Hub, UTC Lincoln and currently the Lincoln Western Growth Corridor.

Globe also works with Roythornes; utilising their expertise around specialist planning and legal advice. Banks Long & Co is another company Globe work with, both locally and regionally. One of the most recent projects has been to create retail units for the Lincolnshire Co-op alongside a new drive-thru unit currently under construction in Lincoln which will be occupied by Costa Coffee. They are also working on some exciting community sports facilities with LK2, as well as mixed used housing development.

Globe have been an integral part of the Leafbridge Development, working with Stirlin to bring forward this much needed employment space. The collaboration with this committed landowner has consistently explored the numerous opportunities, at what had been a long-forgotten but very well-located site.  Now, working with the landowners and developers, Globe is exploring innovative ways in turning the ground materials realised through the site preparation to provide valuable construction materials to be used on the site, and elsewhere, and minimise any residue waste. Seeking solutions as close to source as possible must be the sustainable choice.

Stirlin and Globe are also working together to create a landscape bund to protect the pitches at Lincoln City Football Club's Elite Performance Centre and Globe has worked closely with the football club to gain planning permission and wider support for the redevelopment of the Stacey West stand.

Globe is also working with Couch Perry Wilkes on student accommodation at BGU. They are also collaborating on numerous projects with Pygott & Crone; being Pygott's 'go to' consultant around planning challenges of all shapes and sizes!

As if all this wasn't enough there is more! One of Globes most exciting projects they are currently working on is the development of a new marina alongside housing at Cherry Willingham. This prestigious project will transform the relationship between this Lincolnshire village and the river valley, enhance the visitor economy and recreational offer, create a beautiful new place within the landscape and deliver direct connections for local people to the SUSTRANS cycle route by bridging the river with a new foot/cycle bridge.

As you’d expect, the driving force behind that project is a hugely committed landowner who has toiled to deliver this vision over the last 10 years. Globe has provided expertise and support from the vision to the project now being delivered on site and has relied on a trusted team of advisers to make sure that this exciting project is as good as it can be. Landscape architects Influence have provided invaluable expertise into the project.  Indeed, Sara Boland and her team are collaborating on a number of projects with Globe. Creating optimum landscapes and designing sensitive surroundings and panoramas that really bring such projects to life and add the 'wow' factor into creating aspirational places we all want to see.

These are just a few of the Team Lincolnshire members Globe are currently working with. Others include AM2, Lindum, Stokes Lambert Smith Hampton, Besa Group, Lincs Co-op, JRA and Hemswell Court.

Globe’s dedication to Team Lincolnshire, and their no nonsense 'can do' approach has propelled them to being one of our most proactive and influential members. Here at Team Lincolnshire we would like to thank them for their support, which has been with us right from the start. And we hope you agree they are an inspiration as to how an ambassador programme can truly nurture long lasting partnerships. Thank you to the Globe team, and we should also mention the role of now retired Russell Wallis, in much of the above. His role in working alongside Phil to drive this business has been taken on by current Directors, James and Lizzy. Long may your work continue!
