Creation of the first of five lakes on the Lincolnshire Lakes Village Development - Enabling employment and leisure provision and kick-starting one of the largest new market housing developments in the country
"North Lincolnshire Council is proud to be leading on the biggest housing led regeneration scheme in the north of England, helping create thousands of jobs, new homes, business and leisure opportunities. The lakeside development will be a magnet for potential businesses, residents and visitors. Growth Deal support for Lake One will set the standard for the remainder of the site and will benefit both new and existing communities for generations to come."
Cllr Rob Waltham, Leader, North Lincolnshire Council
Providing essential funding for the development of the first lake on the Lincolnshire Lakes Development and surrounding public space, Growth Deal will bring forward substantial private sector investment in new housing and supporting amenities.
Across a series of five new villages, Lincolnshire Lakes will be desirable places to live. Communities with character, defined by quality family homes and pleasing streets and spaces, will include an exciting mix of new homes and a new commercial park comprising a range of business and leisure activities. In addition, Lincolnshire Lakes will also provide a range of outdoor activities, creating a new destination in North Lincolnshire and a unique place where families can enjoy a range of sports and open-air pursuits.
Lake One will serve a multifunctional purpose, delivering a stunning waterside setting for housing, recreational opportunities and surface water management. The lake will primarily be for non-motorised leisure and sports users and will be surrounded by publicly accessible space that is designed for safe access and to facilitate recreational walking, cycling and running along the lakeside. The lake will also provide surface water attenuation for the villages and a unique waterside setting for 1,860 homes.
The £2m Local Growth funding will kick start the scheme representing a major new investment, which will significantly boost the local economy. The plans involve the creation of a range of new jobs and the delivery of a comprehensive package of infrastructure developments.
Development of the lake will begin in earnest on site January 2018.
