It’s been a privilege to serve as Chair of the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership since it was formed. The difference we’ve made can be seen from the Humber to the Wash in better infrastructure, innovation and business growth, university and college provision
Ursula Lidbetter OBE, Greater Lincolnshire LEP Chair 2010-2019
Greater Lincolnshire is one of largest LEP geographies, is rising in prominence, and has a distinctively varied, non-centralised economy. The private sector here is driven by micro and small businesses with one of the highest proportions of small enterprises across all LEP areas. We have a large manufacturing base, are home to much of the country’s agrifood sector, have a crucial energy industry, and a growing visitor economy. We are already driving innovation in agrifood, and leading transformation through robotics and automation. Large public sector assets in defence, and health and care, are embracing education into technology solutions, and we have strengths arising from our ports and logistics opportunities, as well as fast growing emerging digital and creative sectors.
The Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) works collaboratively with the public and private sectors to deliver sustainable economic growth across Greater Lincolnshire. Our vision is to create a strong, diverse and enterprising business base, operating in an exceptional and connected environment, and where the transfer of technology and skills fosters innovation, investment and economic growth.
We are working to develop a vibrant regional economy, putting business at the heart of our work, and removing barriers to growth so that sustainable jobs can be created. As the voice of the local business community, we are ensuring that the economic interests of the area are represented and promoted, and believe passionately that Greater Lincolnshire is alive with opportunities; a truly great place to live, work and do business; an emerging intelligent choice for investors.
We are already creating significant value and to date have brought 4,800 more people into employment, supported an additional 15,000 business and successfully delivered greater economic value to the tune of £890 million.
We are now looking for a collaborative business leader to chair the LEP Board and build on the firm foundations already in place and to lead our ambitious £307 million growth plan to create thousands more jobs and homes in the region.
Already recognised as a successful business leader you will have the commercial acumen, board level experience, and strategic leadership skills that will create confidence with public and private sector partners. This combined with an outstanding knowledge of the Greater Lincolnshire business environment will also give you the credibility to represent the area at a regional and national level.
As Chair you will ensure that the LEP functions effectively within a framework of corporate governance and transparency in line with the LEP's robust structures, and with a style that encourages a collaborative approach to setting strategic priorities and decision making.
To arrange an informal discussion, you are invited to contact Claudia Sousa on 07763 580368 or Roger Russell, on 07710 701570 at Penna. A full candidate information pack is available online and can be obtained from our recruitment partners at Penna, please click here.
